Mary Ellen and Galen Vernon moved in this house in September 2008. After a court battle and not making payments for 7 months and over $15K in past due, they left the house looking like this. All this in 14 months.
Don't be fooled by this little old lady. She is full of lies. They get money from the State of Michigan as foster parents to pay for thier "rent". Of which they didn't pay, yet she drives a jag.
As part of the judgement against her, she agreed to pay approx 50% of what was past due. And appearantly, that will require legal action to obtain also.
Take a look at the pictures below and I hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else.
The story:
Mary Ellen and Galen moved into the house in September 2008. The trouble started with the first months payment. Due on the 1st of every month, yet twenty days late on month 1. She said they did landscaping and that they didn't have money. Red Flags should have appeared, but she seemed like a nice old lady. As the next months rolled on, the payments kept getting later and later in the month. An acutal payment schedule is posted below. Finally after about four months of being behind, she stopped answering the phone or returning calls. The only way to get a response was thru the courts.

Judgement Final on November 16th.
From the pictures, I now understand why. They had the entire interior painted, including the ceilings. Which will now need to be repainted, since the colors they chose, are well, "different" in most cases. They also destroyed the bathroom trying to put in cheap wood floor. The vanity was oak with a marble top, they painted the oak and then sort of tried to put some vanity on the top. Most likely the frig will have to be replaced unless someone can get the rank smell out of it. The carpets are trashed with many stains. From the dogs or the residents, not sure which. They also added a bedroom in the basement. Nothing like having people sleep next to the furnace and hot water heater with no way out in case of a fire. I am guessing they didn't get a permit for that.
It is safe to say that this is not the Vernon's first time doing this. While she plays the little old lady card, she knows exactly what she is doing. It is a safe bet that they owe many of the contractors money. The landscapers came and tore up the landscaping they did since she didn't pay them either.

UPDATE 12-4
Per the judgment in October, the settlement amount has not been paid. The attorney has issued a letter alerting her that it was due two weeks ago.....no response. With that no response, a garnishment letter has been sent to her bank to collect the funds.
